A targeted police raid on two massage parlours in the capital’s affluent Gulshan neighbourhood led to the detention of 54 individuals on Wednesday night. Law enforcement officials initiated the coordinated operation following intelligence reports alleging that the commercial venues were operating as fronts for prostitution and illegal activities.

Acting on specific intelligence concerning anti-social conduct and commercial sex work, officers from Gulshan Police Station raided two separate spa and salon facilities in the commercial district. The sudden night-time search caught staff and clients off guard, resulting in the detention of 29 women and 25 men of varying ages from the premises.
The high-profile neighbourhood of Gulshan—home to foreign diplomatic missions, international corporate offices, and luxury residential complexes—operates under heightened security monitoring. Despite regular oversight, law enforcement sources noted that certain commercial establishments periodically attempt to mask illegal adult enterprises behind legitimate wellness, therapy, and personal care services.

Police officials involved in the operation confirmed that formal legal processing for all 54 detainees remains underway at the police station. Investigating officers are reviewing the operational structure of the two venues to ascertain the liability of the property owners, managers, employees, and visitors present during the search, before filing formal charges under public order regulations.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station, Daud Hossain, stated that law enforcement maintains zero tolerance toward illegal enterprises operating behind valid commercial licences. He affirmed that police units will prevent any unlawful activities from taking hold under the guise of health and beauty parlours within the Gulshan zone. Intelligence monitoring and unannounced inspections across suspected establishments throughout the district will continue to preserve public order across the capital.
