Pragwati Life Shareholders Ratify Dual Dividends at 26th AGM

Pragati Life Insurance PLC has secured unanimous shareholder approval for a dual dividend payout comprising a 15 per cent cash dividend and a 10 per cent stock dividend for the fiscal year 2025. The announcement came during the insurer’s 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held virtually on Thursday, 13 August.

Presided over by Chairman Mohammad Abdul Awal, the digital assembly brought together senior governance figures and key stakeholders. The proceedings were attended by Founder Chairman Syed M. Altaf Hussain, alongside Directors A. S. M. Mohiuddin Monem and Tajwar M. Awal. The oversight of the company’s financial discipline was represented by Audit Committee Chairman Shahed Ahmad Chowdhury, with further contributions from Directors Dr Syed Kamrul Hossain, Anwar Farooq, and Kamrun Nahar.

Corporate executive leadership was headed by Chief Executive Officer Md. Jalalul Azim and Chief Financial Officer Chandra Shekhar Das, FCA. Independent auditing governance was maintained through the presence of external representatives from Anil Salam Idris & Co., Chartered Accountants. Company Secretary Jagadish Kumar Bhanja, FCS, orchestrated the meeting’s agenda, ensuring seamless shareholder participation and voting procedures.

The balanced dividend structure highlights the board’s strategy of balancing immediate shareholder yields with prudent capital retention. Reinvesting earnings through a bonus share issuance bolsters Pragati Life’s paid-up capital, supporting future portfolio expansion and reinforcing its financial stability. A robust equity foundation remains crucial for Bangladeshi insurers navigating regulatory framework adjustments overseen by the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA).

Since launching operations in 2000, Pragati Life Insurance PLC has maintained a strong presence in the market, providing individual life, group health, and micro-insurance solutions alongside specialized Takaful products. The seamless execution of the 26th AGM reinforces the company’s focus on robust corporate governance, financial resilience, and long-term equity growth.
