Fatema Mamun, wife of noted academic and historian Professor Muntasir Mamun, died early on Monday at the age of 75. She breathed her last at 5.30am, according to a statement issued by her family.
Fatema Mamun was a banker by profession and had retired from her career before her death. She is survived by her daughter, Roya Muntasir, two sons, Misbahuddin Muntasir and Nabil Muntasir, five grandchildren, as well as relatives, friends and numerous well-wishers.
The family said her funeral prayer, or janaza, would be held in Kachua of Chandpur. She will be buried there following the prayer. Details of the funeral arrangements were shared by the family as preparations were made for her final rites.
Her death has brought grief to her family and those who knew her. As a retired professional, Fatema Mamun had spent a significant part of her life balancing her career with family responsibilities. She leaves behind three children and five grandchildren, who now face the loss of a mother and grandmother. The family has also remembered her among the people who touched the lives of many others through personal relationships and social connections.
