Shaman Predicts Argentina’s Shock Exit Against Cape Verde

A bold prediction by Ghanaian spiritualist Kwaku Bonsam has once again become a talking point at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After attracting widespread attention for a forecast involving England captain Harry Kane earlier in the tournament, Bonsam has now claimed that reigning world champions Argentina will be eliminated by Cape Verde in the Round of 32.

Argentina are scheduled to face Cape Verde at Miami Stadium on 4 July at 4:00 am Bangladesh time, with a place in the last 16 at stake. Ahead of the knockout encounter, Bonsam declared that Lionel Scaloni’s side would suffer a surprise defeat, insisting Cape Verde would end Argentina’s title defence.

The prediction has gained attention largely because of Bonsam’s previous comments before England’s group-stage match against Ghana. At the time, he publicly claimed that he was using spiritual powers to prevent Harry Kane from scoring, despite wishing no physical harm upon the England striker.

Coincidentally, Kane failed to find the net in that match, which ended in a goalless draw between England and Ghana. It remains the Bayern Munich forward’s only scoreless appearance of the current World Cup campaign. Following the result, Bonsam’s remarks spread rapidly across social media, with supporters and critics debating whether the prediction had been nothing more than coincidence.

After the Ghana match, Bonsam claimed he had lifted the supposed spiritual influence from Kane because he did not consider the striker an enemy. He even remarked that he hoped to name one of his children Harry in the future, expressing admiration for the England captain despite his earlier statements.

Kane returned to the scoresheet in England’s subsequent match against Panama, adding further intrigue to the discussion surrounding Bonsam’s earlier prediction. While many supporters have viewed the sequence of events as remarkable, there is no scientific evidence to support claims that spiritual practices can influence sporting outcomes. Such assertions remain matters of personal belief rather than established fact.

Attention has now shifted to Argentina, one of the tournament favourites. Led by Lionel Scaloni, the defending champions progressed confidently through the group stage and are widely expected to challenge for another World Cup title. Cape Verde, however, have impressed with disciplined performances, earning their place in the knockout phase through organised defending and effective counter-attacking football.

Knockout football has a long history of producing unexpected results, and underdogs have frequently overturned the odds on the biggest stage. Whether Cape Verde can produce another famous upset or Argentina will justify their status as favourites will ultimately be decided on the pitch.

For now, Bonsam’s latest prediction has added an unusual layer of intrigue to one of the most anticipated Round of 32 fixtures. Football supporters around the world will soon discover whether his forecast proves to be another extraordinary coincidence or simply another pre-match claim that fails to materialise.
