Taka Holds Firm as Foreign Exchange Rates Published

DHAKA — Financial institutions and authorised dealers across Bangladesh have updated their foreign exchange valuations for Tuesday, 29 September 2026, setting baseline figures for trade settlements, personal remittances, and foreign travel expenditure.

The latest official benchmarks show the US Dollar trading at a buying rate of 122.75 Taka and a selling rate of 122.85 Taka. The greenback continues to hold a strong position, reflecting its crucial role as the primary settlement currency for foreign trade and global commerce.

Major European currencies maintain a premium valuation against the Bangladeshi Taka. The British Pound Sterling stands at 162.67 Taka for buying and 162.87 Taka for selling. The Euro follows closely with a buying rate of 139.57 Taka and a selling price of 139.71 Taka.

Regional currencies display distinct stability in the latest published rates. The Indian Rupee is quoted at an even 1.28 Taka for both buying and selling transactions. The Australian Dollar trades at 86.10 Taka buying and 86.24 Taka selling, while the Singapore Dollar is set at 96.09 Taka buying and 96.22 Taka selling. The Chinese Yuan sits at 18.29 Taka for buying and 18.30 Taka for selling, whereas the Japanese Yen is recorded at 0.78 Taka for both buying and selling.

Understanding these figures is essential for individuals and businesses navigating international financial commitments. For those transferring foreign earnings into Bangladeshi Taka, the buying rate applies. Conversely, individuals acquiring foreign currency for overseas education, medical treatment, or leisure travel must purchase funds at the selling rate. The spread between these two figures represents the operational margin for banks and exchange houses.

Although central benchmark rates provide crucial stability for the domestic economy, real-time rates at commercial bank counters and retail money changers may shift slightly throughout the business day. Supply dynamics, liquidity conditions, and specific transaction fees often lead to minor variations. Market participants preparing for substantial transactions are advised to verify active counter rates directly with authorised financial institutions prior to execution.
