In Charghat Upazila of Rajshahi, three friends on a motorcycle were killed on Friday evening after being struck by an ambulance and then run over by a truck. The accident occurred at Shibpur Chungatala on the Rajshahi-Pabna highway.
The deceased are Tuhin Ali (25), son of Habibur Rahman from Chamta area of Shalua Union, Maruf Ali (25), son of Mansur Rahman from the same village, and Shimul Ali (25), son of Abdul Matin from Badal village.
Police reported that the three friends were returning home from Baneshwar market in Puthia on a motorcycle. Upon reaching Shibpur, they collided head-on with an oncoming ambulance, causing the motorcycle to be thrown onto the road. At that moment, a truck coming from behind ran over them. Tuhin and Shimul died at the scene, while Maruf was pronounced dead at a local clinic.
Charghat police officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman stated that two bodies were recovered from the scene and the third died after being taken to the clinic. The truck fled the scene following the accident. The families of the deceased have filed a case, and appropriate measures will be taken.
