Hakimpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Badsha Alam confirmed the arrests on Sunday (4 October).

According to police and the case statement, the woman’s mother filed a complaint at Hakimpur police station on Sunday morning. The complaint alleges that her daughter went to the house of Mohammad Ruhul Amin, also known as Rimon, in Palpara area of Ward No. 6 of Hakimpur Municipality to collect money that was owed to her.

The woman was allegedly kept at the house from 30 September to 3 October. The case statement says she was held there against her will during that period.

The complaint further alleges that Ruhul Amin, also known as Rimon, Shukur Ali, 55, and Ferdous Mia, 50, sexually assaulted the woman against her wishes. It also alleges that the suspects recorded the incidents on mobile phones and threatened to circulate the footage on social media.

The matter later came to the attention of local residents, who went to the house and detained two of the alleged perpetrators. They then contacted the national emergency service 999 to alert police.

Officers from Hakimpur police station subsequently arrived at the scene, took the two men into custody and rescued the woman. Police later arrested Ruhul Amin, also known as Rimon, and Mohammad Shukur Ali in connection with the case and sent them to court.
