According to local sources, the two victims have been identified as 25-year-old Mohammad Nuhu, son of Abdur Razzak Fakir from the Shikdar residence in Chaudhaburia, and 45-year-old Mohammad Ashraf敲kidar (also referred to by locals as Ashraf Molla), a resident of the same locality.
The sequence of events began when Mohammad Nuhu entered the newly constructed septic tank to carry out necessary structural work. Whilst inside the enclosed space, Nuhu suddenly became unwell and collapsed, losing consciousness at the bottom of the tank. Observing his lack of responsiveness, Ashraf entered the tank in an attempt to rescue his colleague. However, upon descending into the structure, Ashraf also succumbed to the conditions and became unconscious.
Upon discovering the situation, local residents intervened by breaking open a section of the concrete tank to facilitate extrication. Although both men were successfully removed from the chamber, they were found to have already deceased. Local community members expressed the view that the fatalities were likely caused by asphyxiation due to the accumulation of toxic gases inside the unventilated tank.
