Mirza Abbas, Member of Parliament for Dhaka–8 and political advisor to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has been airlifted to Singapore for specialised medical treatment following a sudden and severe health crisis.
On Sunday at 11:25 AM, an air ambulance carrying Mr Abbas departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Accompanying him were his wife, Afroza Abbas, their eldest son, Mirza Yasir Abbas, and a personal physician. His personal secretary, Mizanur Rahman Sohel, confirmed the details.
The air ambulance had arrived in Dhaka earlier at 9:10 AM, specifically prepared to transport Mr Abbas for urgent care abroad.
Mr Abbas fell critically ill on Wednesday evening and lost consciousness suddenly. He was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara that same night, where a medical board was immediately convened to oversee his treatment. During his hospitalisation, he underwent two brain surgeries. A CT scan conducted on Saturday morning reportedly showed positive and stable results, according to BNP’s health secretary, Rafiqul Islam.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been closely monitoring Mr Abbas’s condition. He personally visited Evercare Hospital on Friday afternoon to check on his well-being.
