Pink “Donald Trump” Buffalo Draws Crowds

As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, livestock markets and farms across Bangladesh are witnessing growing interest in unusually named and distinctive animals. In Narayanganj, however, it is a striking albino buffalo—affectionately nicknamed “Donald Trump”—that has become the centre of attention, drawing visitors, social media buzz, and intense curiosity.

The animal is housed at Rabeya Agro Farm in the Paikpara area of Narayanganj city. Weighing more than 700 kilogrammes, the buffalo stands out not only for its impressive size but also for its rare physical appearance. It belongs to an albino variety, giving its coat a pale white tone with a soft pinkish hue under sunlight.

What has truly captured public imagination, however, is its unusual hair pattern. The buffalo has a tuft of hair on its forehead styled in a way that many observers say resembles the distinctive hairstyle associated with former US President Donald Trump. This resemblance led farm workers and visitors to jokingly name the animal “Donald Trump”, a label that quickly spread through social media platforms and local conversations.

According to farm owner Ziauddin Mridha, the nickname initially began as a light-hearted remark among family members and staff. However, once images and videos of the buffalo were shared online, it quickly attracted widespread attention. Visitors have since been arriving daily from nearby districts and even further afield to see the animal in person.

On site, the buffalo has become something of a local attraction. Many visitors take photographs and record videos beside it, sharing them across social media. Some jokingly remark that the resemblance is not limited to the hairstyle, but also extends to its overall expression and presence.

The farm has confirmed that several interested buyers have already shown willingness to purchase the animal. However, it has been reserved in advance by a buyer, meaning it is no longer available for sale. This has disappointed some prospective customers who had hoped to acquire the uniquely notable buffalo ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

Farm workers note that the buffalo has been raised with special care, receiving a steady diet of grass, maize, and bran. Its calm behaviour has made it particularly popular among visitors, as it remains composed even in crowded surroundings.

As competition intensifies among livestock farms during the Eid season, the “Donald Trump” buffalo of Narayanganj has emerged as an unexpected cultural and commercial attraction—its fame driven as much by social media fascination as by its unusual appearance.
