The Bangladesh women’s national cricket team has officially left the country to begin their campaign for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England. The first travel contingent, consisting of 13 players and staff, departed Dhaka for London on Sunday night. The remaining 13 members of the official 26-person delegation are scheduled to depart in a final phase to complete the squad’s deployment.
Before starting their official World Cup group fixtures, the team will travel to Scotland to play an international tri-series against the host nation and the Netherlands as part of their final acclimatisation.

Training Assessment and Strategic Build-up
Prior to boarding their flight, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty discussed the team’s tournament preparation during an official press conference. She expressed confidence in the technical work completed during their recent training camp in Dhaka.
Reflecting on the final stages of their domestic preparation, Joty noted:
“The final phase of our preparation in Mirpur was highly impactful for the squad. We played several practice matches and had excellent training sessions. During our build-up for the prior series against Sri Lanka, our training had to account for both the One-Day International (ODI) and T20 formats simultaneously.”
Evaluating Performance Ahead of the Group Stage
Although the recent bilateral tour of Sri Lanka did not yield positive aggregate results for the team, Joty pointed out that several strong individual performances provided a significant psychological boost to the squad. The team management intends to use the upcoming tri-series in Scotland as a definitive testing ground to gauge their tactical readiness.
Commenting on the importance of the matches in Scotland, the captain stated:
“Going to Scotland for this tri-series is a great opportunity for us. It will be an excellent chance to test how well our team will play in the World Cup itself, and to figure out exactly how we can win matches in these conditions.”
Following the conclusion of the tri-series, the Bangladesh delegation will move to their official tournament base to complete their final preparations for the World Cup group stage.
