Taka Exchange Rates Updated for 20 July

More than 10 million Bangladeshis are currently living and working abroad, making remittances one of the country’s largest sources of foreign currency. Alongside remittance inflows, the growing volume of international trade, overseas education, medical treatment, tourism, and cross-border business transactions has made daily foreign exchange rates increasingly important for individuals and businesses alike.

The latest exchange rates between the Bangladeshi taka (BDT) and major international currencies were published on Monday, 20 July. These rates serve as important reference points for banks, authorised money exchange institutions, importers, exporters, travellers, students, and expatriates. While they provide a useful benchmark, actual buying and selling rates may vary slightly depending on the financial institution, service charges, market demand, liquidity, and prevailing trading conditions.

Daily exchange rate movements have a direct impact on several sectors of the economy. Bangladeshi expatriates closely monitor currency values to maximise the value of their remittances, while students and patients travelling abroad rely on competitive exchange rates to manage tuition fees and medical expenses. Businesses engaged in international commerce also use these rates when calculating import costs, export earnings, and contractual payments.

The exchange rate list for 20 July shows notable differences among global currencies. The Kuwaiti dinar remains the highest-valued currency against the Bangladeshi taka, followed by the Bahraini dinar and the Omani rial. At the other end of the scale, currencies such as the Japanese yen and South Korean won continue to trade at comparatively low values due to their smaller denominations.

The latest exchange rates are as follows:

CurrencyExchange Rate (BDT)
Malaysian Ringgit (1)30.22
Saudi Riyal (1)32.89
US Dollar (1)123.16
Euro (1)143.38
Italian Euro (1)143.38
British Pound Sterling (1)166.14
Singapore Dollar (1)95.96
Australian Dollar (1)86.75
New Zealand Dollar (1)72.22
Canadian Dollar (1)87.91
UAE Dirham (1)33.64
Omani Rial (1)319.05
Bahraini Dinar (1)327.85
Qatari Riyal (1)33.94
Kuwaiti Dinar (1)402.12
Swiss Franc (1)149.25
South African Rand (1)7.45
Japanese Yen (1)0.761
South Korean Won (1)0.08288899
Indian Rupee (1)1.24

Among the currencies listed, the Kuwaiti dinar commands the highest value at BDT 402.12 per dinar. It is followed by the Bahraini dinar at BDT 327.85 and the Omani rial at BDT 319.05. These Gulf currencies typically maintain higher values due to their strong economies and exchange rate policies. They are particularly significant for Bangladesh, as a substantial proportion of the country’s overseas workforce is employed across the Gulf region.

The British pound and the euro also remain among the strongest widely traded currencies, reflecting their importance in trade, investment, education, and travel. Meanwhile, the US dollar continues to play a central role in international commerce and foreign exchange transactions, making its daily movement especially significant for importers, exporters, and financial institutions.

Financial market observers note that foreign exchange rates are influenced by a range of factors, including global economic conditions, inflation, interest rate decisions by central banks, geopolitical developments, and fluctuations in the demand and supply of foreign currencies. As a result, exchange rates may change throughout the trading day, and banks and authorised money exchange providers may quote slightly different buying and selling prices.

Anyone planning to remit funds, purchase foreign currency, pay overseas expenses, or conduct international business is therefore advised to verify the latest rates with their chosen bank or authorised exchange provider before completing any transaction.
