The fatal accident occurred late at night around 11:30 PM on Friday along the National Special Economic Zone road near the Borotakia Bazar area. The victims were identified as 19-year-olds Talat Mahmud Shuvo and Abdullah Al-Omar. Shuvo hailed from Miyapara village within the Mognadia union of the upazila and was the son of the late Aminul Islam. His companion, Abdullah Al-Omar, resided in the neighboring Fakirpara area and was the son of expatriate Sheikh Farid.

According to family members and local acquaintances, Shuvo and Omar shared a close friendship. Alongside their academic pursuits, both young men worked at a diagnostic laboratory in the local Abutorab Bazar. Determined to celebrate their hard work, Shuvo decided to purchase a brand-new motorcycle. On Friday night, he went to Baraiyarhat Bazar accompanied by his close friend Omar to finalise the purchase. The duo hit the road shortly afterwards, eager to ride their new vehicle back home under the night sky.

However, their journey was cut short near the Borotakia Gate area of the Mirsharai National Special Economic Zone road. A speeding lorry travelling along the route collided head-on with their motorcycle. The impact of the crash was catastrophic, resulting in Shuvo’s immediate death at the scene. Omar sustained critical injuries and was rushed by emergency responders toward Chattogram Medical College Hospital, but he succumbed to his wounds while en route.

The tragic news rippled quickly through the neighbourhood, leaving relatives and peers devastated by the abrupt end to two young lives. Local authorities responded promptly to manage the situation. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirsharai Police Station, Farida Yasmin, confirmed that police units were deployed to the location following reports of the crash. Law enforcement officials noted that comprehensive inquest reports and formal investigations would shed further light on the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
