In a major administrative reshuffle, the government has transferred and assigned 22 senior officers within the Bangladesh Police to strategic roles across regional ranges, specialized training institutions, and operational divisions. Official notifications detailing the reassignments were issued on Tuesday, 22nd September, by the Police-1 branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Signed by Deputy Secretary Tausif Ahmed, the executive orders carry immediate effect to ensure a seamless shift in police leadership.
Among the key appointments, Paritosh Ghosh, previously serving as DIG at the APBn and Specialized Training Centre in Khagrachhari, has been assigned as Deputy Inspector General of Police for the APBn (Hill Tracts Districts) office. This move reshuffles police command within the sensitive Chittagong Hill Tracts region. Meanwhile, Habibur Rahman Khan, formerly DIG of Highway Police in Dhaka, moves into leadership in police education as Commandant (DIG) of the Traffic and Driving School (TDS) in the capital.
The adjustments also extend into regional command structures and intelligence services. Mohammad Enamul Haq, who served as Supernumerary Additional Commissioner of Police in Sylhet, has been appointed Additional DIG at the APBn and Specialized Training Centre in Khagrachhari. In addition, Mohammad Anisur Rahman leaves his post as Additional DIG at the Special Branch (SB) in Dhaka to take up the role of Additional DIG at the Khulna Range DIG office.
Two high-ranking Officers on Special Duty (OSD) attached to the Ministry of Home Affairs have also been deployed back into field offices. Additional DIG Md Gias Uddin Ahmad has been attached to the Rangpur Range DIG office as Additional DIG, while Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Jasim Uddin has been posted to the Rajshahi Range DIG office.
Senior officers holding the rank of DIG and Additional DIG play a pivotal role in maintaining law and order, coordinating regional operations, and overseeing field personnel. Similar operational leadership is critical in specialized bodies such as the Highway Police, Armed Police Battalion, and training academies. According to the Public Security Division, all affected officers are mandated to join their new stations immediately to oversee ongoing security operations across their respective jurisdictions.
