The two were detained at around 3.30pm on Sunday, 25 October, from a mess on the fourth floor of a building in the Mujgunni area of Khalishpur, in the southwestern Bangladeshi city.
The man has been identified as Momtazir Billah, 26. According to local sources, he is the son of Golam Faruk, chairman of Islamkati Union Parishad in Tala upazila of Satkhira district and a leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) said the two were taken to a police station after officers acted on information provided by local residents. They are being questioned about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
