Govt improving fate of oppressed, deprived people: Speaker,  Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, stated today that the current administration is working tirelessly to improve the lives of oppressed and disadvantaged people. “Today, the country’s economy is strong, and the people of the nation are benefiting from infrastructure development and 100% electrification. Today, Bangladesh is at a particularly high point in the world, she remarked.

The Speaker made this statement while serving as the principal guest at an event planned for beneficiaries to receive bicycles, sewing machines, wheelchairs, and spray machines at Laldighee Adarsha High School in Pirganj. The Speaker was greeted with flowers upon her arrival by members of the local public and heads of various organizations.

The Pirganj Upazila Awami League’s General Secretary and Pirganj Municipality Mayor ASM Tajimul Islam Shamim presided over the event, which was moderated by Professor Nurul Amin Raza, the Awami League’s acting president. Rabiul Islam Rabi, vice president of the Pirganj Upazila Awami League and head of the neighborhood Kabilpur Union Parishad, Rafiqul Islam Bakul, and Saiful Islam Laju, general secretary, also spoke at the event.

The Speaker claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not simply support development focused on cities. “The Prime Minister has set up development plans to provide every village with access to all civic amenities of towns. We are moving from the category of a less developed country to that of a developing country as a result of her tactics and abilities, she claimed.

She claimed that after 23 years of political movements and conflicts, the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, committed to fulfill the rights and demands of Bangalees while forgoing his own. “We have the best constitution in the world, a red-green victory flag, and an independent and sovereign Bangladesh because of a great leader like Bangabandhu,” she remarked.

She described Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s proclamation of November 4 as National Constitution Day as a significant development. The Speaker stated that union women training centers are being established for neighborhood mothers and sisters in regards to the development of her own constituency (Pirganj).

“Murals of the Father of the Nation and Shaheed Minars are being installed in every union and more developmental projects will be taken up if required,” she said. She especially called upon the children and teenagers to join different social development activities, including sports, instead of being confined indoors.

The Speaker said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the able daughter of Bangabandhu, is working to change the fortune of common people. As Bangladesh has developed under her leadership, Pirganj is also developing in the same continuit “Old age allowance, widow allowance, maternity allowance and other allowances have been fully opened up under social safety nets across the country,” she said, and appealed to all to stand with the present government in all development activities.

The Speaker then held a discussion with citizens and public officials in the area in the Pirganj Upazila Parishad auditorium. She also presented the cover of the book “Mohakabyk Mujib,” which the Pirganj upazila administration had published to commemorate the 100th birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation.

In attendance were Upazila Awami League Vice-President Shahidul Islam Pintu, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Biroda Rani Roy, Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Asif Ahasan, Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, local and district level Awami League and organizational leaders, dignitaries, and media personnel.
