An albino buffalo, christened ‘Netanyahu’ by its owners, has become a focal point of interest at a local farm due to its rare physical appearance and aggressive temperament.

Rare Characteristics and Physical Traits
Reared at the SS Cattle Farm in the Dasergaon area of Bandar Upazila, Narayanganj, the buffalo belongs to the rare albino category. Unlike standard buffaloes, this specimen exhibits a distinct pinkish skin tone and white or pale hair. According to the farm management, the buffalo weighs over 760 kilograms.
The name ‘Netanyahu’ was chosen by the farm authorities because of perceived physical resemblances to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Observers and farm workers have pointed out similarities in the hair parting and eye shape. However, the naming is equally attributed to the animal’s “volatile” and “aggressive” nature.
Public Interest and Behavioural Observations
Since news of the buffalo spread across social media platforms, the farm has seen a significant influx of visitors. Local residents and prospective buyers have expressed curiosity regarding the animal’s temperament. Rafiq Mia, a visitor, noted that the buffalo displays a “combative” attitude, frequently attempting to gore anyone who approaches.
Farmhand Al-Amin reported that the buffalo exhibits unpredictable behaviour even toward its primary caretakers. Despite being provided with a premium diet including grass, bran, and various nutritional supplements, the animal remains hostile. To maintain its appearance and health, the buffalo is bathed twice daily, though staff members are advised to maintain a safe distance due to its tendency to charge or snort when people attempt to pet it.
Market Value and Regional Supply
The farm management has adopted a ‘live weight’ pricing strategy for the buffalo. At a rate of 550 BDT per kilogram, the animal is positioned as a premium purchase for the sacrificial market. Mehedi, the manager of SS Cattle Farm, stated that the price remains within a competitive range for high-end buyers and expects a swift sale.
