The case statement records that Tanvir Rahee married Fahima Akter on 7 August last year. The marriage was solemnised with a dowry (mehr) fixed at BDT 3 million.

Shortly after the marriage, the accused allegedly began demanding BDT 5 million from the complainant’s family for the purchase of a Toyota Corolla Cross vehicle. On 1 March at approximately 8:00 pm, the accused allegedly reiterated the demand for BDT 5 million in the presence of the complainant and her mother, Shahanara Akter, at Azimpur–New Paltan Link Road. The complaint further alleges that upon refusal to pay, he threatened divorce and warned that private photographs and videos would be circulated on social media, allegedly intended to pressure the complainant into extreme distress.
