Bangladesh Bank Closes Applications for Assistant Director Recruitment Drive

DHAKA — Jobseekers across the country are facing the final countdown as Bangladesh Bank prepares to close online applications for the position of Assistant Director (Statistics). The central bank will shut its recruitment portal on Monday, 10 August 2026, marking the end of a month-long application window for 33 coveted entry-level officer posts.

The recruitment drive, which launched officially on 12 July 2026, offers a significant opening for graduates seeking a stable, prestigious career in the national banking regulator. Positions within Bangladesh Bank remain among the most sought-after public sector appointments in the country, attracting thousands of competitive applicants nationwide.

Academic Qualifications and Eligibility Standards

To qualify for the role of Assistant Director (Statistics), applicants must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree with honours or a master’s degree from a recognised university. The academic specialization must fall strictly within the disciplines of Economics, Statistics, or Applied Statistics.

The central bank maintains stringent academic performance benchmarks for its intake. Prospective candidates must demonstrate a first division, class, or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) in at least two public examinations from the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) level onwards. Candidates carrying a third division, class, or equivalent GPA at any stage of their academic history are categorically disqualified from consideration.

Regarding age requirements, candidates must be between 21 and 32 years old as calculated on 1 July 2026. This age threshold accommodates recent graduates alongside slightly more experienced young professionals aiming to transition into monetary policy, regulatory oversight, and financial data analytics.

Remuneration Package and Application Guidelines

Successful candidates will be appointed under Grade-9 of the National Pay Scale, which carries a basic pay band ranging from 22,000 Taka to 53,060 Taka alongside standard government allowances, medical benefits, and residential privileges where applicable.

Eligible candidates must complete their online submissions exclusively through the official Bangladesh Bank recruitment portal before the Monday deadline. The central bank has set a non-refundable application fee of 200 Taka, payable via integrated online payment channels during the application process.

Central Role of Statistical Officers in Regulatory Governance

The position of Assistant Director (Statistics) carries substantial operational significance within Bangladesh Bank’s organizational hierarchy. As the country’s monetary authority, the central bank relies heavily on rigorous quantitative research, macroeconomic forecasting, inflation monitoring, and financial stability assessments to formulate national fiscal and monetary strategies.

Officers recruited into the statistics cadre are tasked with compiling critical economic indicators, analyzing banking sector data, tracking foreign exchange telemetry, and delivering analytical reports that guide key policy decisions. With the application deadline expiring tomorrow, central bank officials expect a final surge in submissions as aspiring statisticians and economists vie for the 33 designated seats.
