Bangladesh national team manager Thomas Dooley has expressed strong interest in integrating 19-year-old British-Bangladeshi winger Farhaan Ali Wahid into his squad, while maintaining a measured stance regarding an immediate international debut.

The English-born wide attacker caught widespread attention across Bangladeshi football after making his senior debut for English Premier League side Fulham in a pre-season friendly against Norwich City on 25 July.

Following a National Team Management Committee meeting, Dooley emphasized that performance and long-term readiness take precedence over age when building the national team.

While acknowledging Farhaan’s raw ability, he stressed that early promises cannot be made until direct conversations take place and potential risks—such as injury or club commitments—are factored in.

• Diaspora Talent Drive: The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is actively pursuing Farhaan’s passport processing and eligibility clearance. This follows the successful integration of former Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury, who paved the way for foreign-born heritage players to represent Bangladesh.
