The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended its anti-corruption drive within the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), issuing provisional suspensions to two high-profile administrators. Following an extensive investigation led by the board’s Integrity Unit, former franchise owner Md. Abdul Kaiyum Rashid and team official Md. Amin Khan have been temporarily barred from all cricket-related activities pending formal proceedings.
The allegations center on breaches committed during the 11th and 12th editions of Bangladesh’s flagship Twenty20 tournament. Rashid served as the owner of the Chittagong Royals franchise in the 12th season, whilst Khan held the role of team operations manager for the same side, having previously performed similar managerial duties for Durbar Rajshahi in the 11th edition.
Both individuals face formal charges under the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Code for Participants, which governs the BPL’s integrity framework. Rashid has been charged under Articles 2.1.1, 2.4.4, 2.4.6, and 2.4.7. These provisions cover attempting to fix or improperly influence the outcome or progress of a match, failing to report corrupt approaches to designated anti-corruption personnel, and refusing to cooperate with official inquiries.
Khan faces equally serious allegations under Articles 2.1.1, 2.1.4, 2.4.6, and 2.4.7. Alongside match manipulation and non-cooperation, he is accused of soliciting or encouraging others to engage in corrupt conduct, as well as obstructing investigators by tampering with crucial evidence.
Under BCB anti-corruption regulations, both men have been given 14 days to respond to the notice of charge. The board emphasised that while provisional suspensions remain in force to safeguard the sport, the charges represent an ongoing disciplinary process rather than final findings of guilt.
This latest action follows prior sanctions issued by the BCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit against players and officials in connection with domestic franchise cricket. The BPL has historically faced governance challenges, making stringent enforcement of integrity rules essential for preserving the credibility of the competition. The board reiterated its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against match-fixing, unrecorded approaches, and procedural obstruction across all levels of Bangladeshi cricket.
