A young Bangladesh Railway employee has been killed and brutally disfigured in a shocking incident stemming from an alleged extramarital relationship. The homicide took place on the afternoon of Saturday, 11 July, in Dhaka’s Mohakhali TB Gate neighborhood. The victim, 28-year-old Mamun Bhuiyan, died from his injuries while undergoing emergency treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Police officers arriving at the scene arrested the primary suspect without delay.
The deadly encounter occurred inside a rented flat occupied by the accused woman, Beauty Akter. Investigators report that Mamun arrived at the residence earlier that day, where a bitter disagreement broke out between the pair. The situation quickly degenerated into physical violence. Beauty reportedly picked up a sharp domestic knife, using it to inflict multiple deep stab wounds to Mamun’s chest and abdomen before severing his genitals.
The landlord, Suman Mahmud, stated that the apartment had been leased to the suspect just one day prior, on Friday, 10 July. The domestic peace of the neighbourhood was broken when residents heard Mamun’s piercing cries for assistance. Upon entering the room to investigate the disturbance, neighbours discovered the railway official lying unconscious on the floor, bleeding profusely from massive trauma.
A patrol team from the nearby Banani Police Station responded to the emergency call, arriving in time to detain Beauty inside the flat. Paramedics transferred the critically wounded official to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Medical staff attempted to stabilise him, but the extensive internal bleeding and severe bodily damage proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at roughly 7:00 pm.
Sub-Inspector Mohammad Tareq Hasan of Banani Police Station verified the arrest, confirming that the suspect was caught red-handed at the location. The victim’s body remains at the hospital morgue awaiting a compulsory post-mortem assessment while investigators compile evidence to file formal criminal charges.
The murder has left Mamun’s relatives in profound shock. The deceased was the son of Babul Bhuiyan, a resident of Maliati village in the Ishwarganj sub-district of Mymensingh. Mamun, who leaves behind two brothers and a sister, had achieved a career milestone by securing his appointment with Bangladesh Railway five months ago, having only reported for active duty within the past month. Family members revealed that Mamun had been married to his wife, Jannat, for five years. She remains at the family’s village home, currently pregnant and mourning the sudden loss of her husband.
