Imran’s Band Embarks on Two-Month US Tour

Bangladeshi singer and songwriter Imran Mahmudul is preparing for an extensive two-month concert tour across the United States with his band iKings, reflecting his enduring popularity among Bangladeshi audiences both at home and abroad. The tour, scheduled to run throughout August and September, is expected to feature a series of performances for expatriate Bengali communities across several American states.

Speaking about the upcoming musical journey, Imran said he and his band will depart from Dhaka on 21 July and are scheduled to return on 29 September. Around 15 concerts have already been confirmed, with organisers continuing discussions for additional performances that could further extend the tour itinerary.

The singer described overseas concerts as particularly rewarding, largely because they provide an opportunity to connect with Bangladeshi communities living far from home. According to him, such events are more than just musical performances—they are occasions that allow expatriates to reconnect with their cultural roots through familiar songs and shared experiences.

“Concerts outside Bangladesh are always special,” Imran said. “Most of these events are organised by Bengali communities abroad, and it is a wonderful feeling to perform for people who have been away from their homeland for years. We recently completed a successful tour of Australia, which turned out to be a fantastic experience. Now we are looking forward to performing in the United States. Around 15 or 16 shows have already been confirmed, and that number may still increase.”

The Bolte Bolte Cholte Cholte singer also highlighted the cultural diversity of the United States, noting that every state has its own distinct community and social character. While Bengali expatriates remain the primary audience for these concerts, people from other cultural backgrounds also attend many of the performances.

Imran explained that this diversity influences the band’s musical arrangements. Rather than presenting identical performances at every venue, the group carefully considers the nature of each audience and adapts its compositions and stage presentation accordingly, ensuring that listeners from different backgrounds can equally enjoy the performances.

One notable aspect of Imran’s recent international engagements is his decision to travel with his full band instead of performing as a solo act. He believes that appearing with a complete live ensemble allows audiences to experience his music in its original form, with richer instrumentation and more authentic arrangements than would be possible through backing tracks or smaller line-ups.

The artist said this approach has been warmly received by overseas audiences, who appreciate hearing his songs performed with the same musical depth and energy as they are intended.

Looking beyond the United States tour, Imran revealed that discussions are already underway for concerts in several other countries. A major performance in Malaysia is currently being planned, while preparations are also in progress for a European tour next year, signalling the continued expansion of his international concert schedule.

Over the past decade, Imran Mahmudul has established himself as one of Bangladesh’s most recognised contemporary musicians, earning acclaim for a catalogue of romantic ballads and modern pop songs. His performances regularly attract large audiences, and his popularity among the Bangladeshi diaspora has made overseas concert tours an increasingly important part of his career.

The iKings band features Imran Mahmudul as lead vocalist alongside Sajal Kumar Saha on drums, Kaiyum Khan on keyboards, Rajib Ghosh on lead guitar, and Jahangir Alam Jony on bass guitar. Together, the group is expected to deliver a series of live performances celebrating contemporary Bangladeshi music for audiences across the United States during their upcoming tour.
