A police constable serving at the Khulna Railway District Police Lines has died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head while on duty, according to official sources.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 am on Saturday in the armoury area of the police lines, where the officer was performing his assigned duties. The deceased has been identified as Constable Samrat Biswas.
Police sources stated that CCTV footage from the site shows the constable placing a firearm to his own head and discharging it, resulting in his death. The incident took place within the secured premises of the police lines.
According to the Khulna Railway Police, Constable Samrat Biswas was originally from Kashiani Upazila in Gopalganj district. He joined the police force in 2018. In November of the previous year, he was posted to the Khulna Railway District.
