In Noakhali’s Sadar upazila, the District Detective Branch (DB) has recovered 1,400 litres of illegally stored diesel and seized a vehicle known as a voucher car, while arresting four individuals during a targeted operation conducted on the basis of confidential intelligence.
According to official accounts, the operation was initiated on Friday at approximately 10:30 pm following a tip-off regarding the unlawful stockpiling of fuel for potential sale at inflated prices. Acting on this information, law enforcement officers carried out a coordinated raid later in the night.
The main operation took place at around 11:45 pm in the Uday Sadhur Hat South Market area of Motua Union under Noakhali Sadar upazila. The location is identified as Abdul Malek Oil Store, where authorities allege that diesel had been stored unlawfully for commercial gain.
During the raid, law enforcement personnel detained four individuals from the scene. The arrested persons were identified as Md Rashed (38), Md Nasir Uddin (47), Md Shihab Uddin (22), and Md Maksud (32). All of them are residents of different areas within Noakhali Sadar upazila. Among them, Md Nasir Uddin was identified as the driver of the voucher vehicle seized during the operation.
A total of 1,400 litres of diesel was confiscated from the premises, along with a red-coloured voucher vehicle used in connection with the transport or handling of the fuel. Authorities stated that the diesel had been stored with the alleged intention of selling it at higher-than-regulated prices.
The District Detective Branch confirmed the operation on Saturday morning through its Officer-in-Charge, Md Mohin Uddin. He stated that legal proceedings are underway against the arrested individuals. A case is being prepared for filing at Sudharam Model Police Station under the Special Powers Act.
