A man has died and another has been seriously injured after a yellow-laden jeep overturned in Rangamati. The incident occurred in the Lata Pahar area of Farua Union under Bilaichhari upazila on Tuesday at around 6:00 pm.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Salam (60), a day labourer from Munshipara village under No. 3 Bangalhalia Union of Rajsthali upazila. The injured driver is Md. Belal (38), son of Md. Kabir Hossain, also from Munshipara village in the same area.
According to local residents, the jeep was descending a steep hillside road at Lata Pahar when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn on the roadway. Both occupants sustained severe injuries in the incident.
Following the accident, local people rescued the injured victims at approximately 9:00 pm and transported them to the Rajsthali Upazila Health Complex. On arrival, the attending doctors declared Md. Salam dead. Due to the severity of his condition, Md. Belal was referred to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
The matter was confirmed by Md. Khaled Hossain, who stated that no complaint had been lodged by the victim’s family. Consequently, the body was handed over to the relatives without a post-mortem examination.
