Jubo League Rally Reported in Sirajganj at Dawn

A group of Jubo League activists reportedly staged a brief flash rally in Sirajganj early on Thursday (10 September), with video footage of the procession later spreading across social media.

According to local sources, between 50 and 60 people took part in the rally. They reportedly arrived on the highway in Hiace vehicles and motorcycles before suddenly forming a procession. During the brief gathering, participants chanted ‘Joy Bangla’ and raised various slogans opposing the government.

The rally lasted only a few minutes. The participants then quickly dispersed and left the area in their vehicles and motorcycles.

Footage of the procession began circulating on social media at around 11am, several hours after the reported incident. The video showed a group of people taking part in the rally, but its precise location could not immediately be established.

The uncertainty over the location was also reflected in comments from police officials. When contacted by phone, Jamuna Bridge West Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Amirul Islam was unavailable as he was on leave. Sub-Inspector Pronoy Kumar Pramanik answered the call and said he had seen the video of the flash rally.

However, he said the procession shown in the footage did not take place on the highway under the jurisdiction of Jamuna Bridge West Police Station. As a result, the police station could not confirm the location of the incident based solely on the video.

Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Khan, who is responsible for the Raiganj Circle, also said that the exact location of the rally could not yet be determined. Police were attempting to establish where the procession had taken place, he said.

The brief nature of the rally and the subsequent circulation of its footage on social media have made the video a key source of information about the incident. Police have not, however, publicly confirmed the precise location shown in the footage.

No detailed information has so far been provided about the identities of those who participated in the procession or whether any legal action has been taken in connection with it.

Authorities are continuing to verify the circumstances surrounding the rally, particularly its location. Until that verification is completed, it remains unclear exactly where in Sirajganj the procession took place.
