Man Mutilated by Aunt Over Alleged Affair and Betrayal

A shocking incident of brutal assault has stunned the quiet village of Maryadpara in Khilpara Union, under Chatkhil Upazila of Noakhali district. A 24-year-old expatriate worker, Jewel, suffered severe physical trauma when his aunt allegedly severed his genitals with a pair of scissors late on Wednesday night. The horrific attack reportedly stemmed from a dispute over Jewel’s upcoming marriage to another woman.

The victim had returned to Bangladesh just a month ago after spending eight years working in Oman. According to local residents, Jewel had grown close to his widowed aunt following the death of his uncle, Monir Hossain, who passed away eighteen months ago. Neighbours claimed that an extramarital affair had developed between the two, with Jewel allegedly promising to marry her. Tensions reached a breaking point on Wednesday when the aunt discovered that arrangements were being finalized for Jewel to marry someone else.

Determined to confront him, the aunt reportedly lured Jewel into her bedroom around 2:00 am. Once inside, she used a pair of scissors to inflict critical injuries on him before fleeing the scene. Jewel’s father, Kamal Hossain, recounted that the family woke up in the middle of the night to his son’s agonising screams. Rushing to the room, they found Jewel bleeding profusely and immediately organized emergency transport to Chatkhil Government Hospital.

Given the critical nature of his injuries, attending doctors at Chatkhil provided primary treatment to stabilize him before referring him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for specialised surgery and advanced care.

Speaking from his hospital bed on Thursday morning, Jewel disputed the local claims regarding a romantic relationship. He maintained that he had no improper involvement with his aunt, alleging instead that she ambushed him when he stepped outside his room during the night. According to Jewel, she forcibly pulled him into her quarters, locked the door, and demanded that he marry her. When he refused, she offered him a glass of water, and before he could react, she attacked him with scissors.

The suspect fled the village immediately after the attack, and her mobile phone remains switched off. Mohammad Abdul Monnaf, Officer-in-Charge of Chatkhil Police Station, confirmed that a relative of the victim verbally reported the crime. Law enforcement officers instructed the family to lodge a formal written complaint to initiate a full police investigation, while search efforts are underway to trace the missing suspect.
