A 22-year-old man who had been missing for three days was found dead in a field near his home in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj. Police recovered the body of Ali Hossain from a waterlogged field in Mahadebpur village under Dharmaghar Union on Monday morning after local residents spotted it floating in rainwater.
The deceased, Ali Hossain, was the son of Abdul Ahad of Mahadebpur village. He worked at a local hotel to support himself and his family and also worked as an assistant to a mason. His sudden death has left relatives, neighbours and members of the local community deeply shocked.
According to local residents, Ali Hossain left his home around three days earlier, saying he was going to Harashpur market. However, he did not return home afterwards. As hours turned into days, his family became increasingly concerned and began searching for him in different possible locations. Despite their efforts, they could not find any trace of him.
Family members, friends and well-wishers also sought help through social media, sharing information and appealing to people for any details that could lead to his whereabouts. The search continued until Monday morning, when the discovery of a body near his home brought a tragic end to their efforts.
Local people noticed a body floating in accumulated rainwater in a nearby field and informed others. After approaching the spot, they identified the body as Ali Hossain. The Madhabpur police station was immediately notified, and a police team arrived at the scene to recover the body.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over Mahadebpur village. Family members broke down in tears after receiving the news, while neighbours gathered at the scene in shock. Relatives have demanded a proper investigation to determine how Ali Hossain died and whether there was any wrongdoing involved.
Madhabpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Sohel Rana said police recovered the body after receiving information about the incident. He added that a preliminary examination report was being prepared and the body would be sent to the morgue of Habiganj Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The police officer said further legal action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the post-mortem report. Authorities are continuing their efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
