Bangladeshi right-arm fast bowler Nahid Rana has maintained a measured stance following his title-winning campaign in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), emphasising process over personal acclaim. Despite playing a decisive role in Peshawar Zalmi’s championship success, he has avoided any sense of individual celebration, instead highlighting team objectives and discipline.
Nahid contributed significantly to Peshawar Zalmi’s successful PSL season. Across five matches, he claimed nine wickets with an economy rate of 5.44, demonstrating consistent control with the ball. His most notable performance came in the final, where he delivered a disciplined spell, taking two wickets for 22 runs. He also bowled the highest number of dot balls in the match, registering 15, which helped restrict the opposition’s scoring momentum.
In the final held in Lahore on Sunday, Zalmi’s disciplined bowling unit restricted Hyderabad Kingsmen to 129 runs. Nahid’s controlled bowling performance formed a key part of that effort. Peshawar Zalmi went on to secure the title comfortably, winning by five wickets with 28 balls remaining.
Following his return to Bangladesh on Monday, Nahid spoke at the airport, reflecting on the team’s achievement. He stated: “We were able to fulfil what the team wanted. That is the most important thing.”
| Matches | Wickets | Economy rate | Final figures | Dot balls |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 9 | 5.44 | 2/22 | 15 |
Nahid’s contributions throughout the tournament were characterised by accuracy and control, particularly in pressure situations. His ability to contain runs while also taking wickets made him a valuable asset in Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling attack during the competition.
Looking ahead, Nahid is set to be involved in a Test series against Pakistan on home soil. He has been clear in distinguishing between the shorter and longer formats of the game, stressing the importance of adapting accordingly. He remarked: “Test and T20 are not the same. I want to remain within my process.”
His comments underline an awareness of the technical and physical differences between formats, particularly the demands of Test cricket, which requires sustained concentration and endurance over extended periods compared to the more explosive nature of T20 cricket.
Reflecting on his experience in Pakistan, Nahid also described his time in the PSL as positive. He said: “The experience was good. I enjoyed it.”
With his PSL campaign concluded, Nahid now shifts focus to international red-ball cricket, where he will aim to apply the rhythm and discipline developed during his recent franchise success.
