Naogaon Police Arrest 32-Year-Old Man Following Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor

Law enforcement officers in Naogaon’s Raninagar Upazila have arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Nishan Ali, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl. The suspect was taken into custody during a targeted police operation on Saturday evening, following an immediate complaint lodged by the victim’s family.

The accused, the son of Soleman Ali, is a resident of Ghoshgram Hindupara village, located within the Raninagar administrative precinct.

According to preliminary police reports and testimonies from local community members, the crime occurred at around 12:30 pm on Saturday. The young girl was at her family home working on fishing nets when the suspect observed that she was unsupervised. Capitalising on the absence of adult guardians, the accused reportedly lured the child to his nearby residence under the pretext of providing a mobile phone charger, where the assault subsequently took place.

Disturbed by suspicious movements near the premises, local residents intervened and rescued the minor from the house. Following the rescue, the girl’s mother approached Raninagar Police Station later that evening to formally lodge a criminal case against the suspect.

Confirming the arrest, Zakaria Mondal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raninagar Police Station, stated that law enforcement acted with urgency as soon as the formal complaint was registered. A specialised police unit was dispatched, successfully locating and apprehending the suspect within hours of the report.

The police chief added that the suspect will be produced before the regional magistrate’s court on Sunday, whilst the young victim is scheduled to undergo a comprehensive forensic examination and medical evaluation at a government healthcare facility to assist the ongoing legal proceedings.
