NCC Bank Organises Workplace Mental Health Session

NCC Bank has organised a mental health awareness workshop for its female employees under the title “Mind Matters: Workplace Mental Health Talk for Women” at its Head Office, according to a press release. The initiative reflects the bank’s stated commitment to promoting a supportive, inclusive and healthy working environment.

The session was led by Dr Nasim Jahan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at BIRDEM General Hospital and Ibrahim Medical College. She delivered a structured presentation on key aspects of mental health in the workplace, focusing on stress management techniques, emotional resilience, and the importance of maintaining a sustainable work-life balance. The discussion addressed how workplace demands can affect psychological wellbeing and highlighted practical approaches for managing stress in professional settings.

During the workshop, participants were also introduced to internationally recognised mental health screening and assessment instruments, including the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ). These tools are commonly used to support the identification of symptoms associated with stress, anxiety and depression. Their inclusion in the session was aimed at improving awareness among employees regarding early recognition and self-assessment of mental health conditions, as well as encouraging timely support-seeking behaviour where necessary.

The programme was moderated by Nighat Mumtaz, Executive Vice President and Head of Sustainable and Women’s Banking at NCC Bank. She highlighted the relevance of mental health awareness in modern workplace environments, particularly in the context of evolving professional responsibilities and organisational expectations.

A total of 142 women officials attended the workshop in person at the Head Office. In addition, female employees from various branches across the country participated virtually through digital communication platforms. This hybrid arrangement enabled wider participation and ensured inclusion of staff from multiple geographical locations within the organisation.

Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting its relevance to contemporary workplace conditions and its practical focus on mental wellbeing. The session was described as informative in relation to managing workplace stress and understanding mental health challenges in professional environments.
