NCP Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari Attacked in Jhenaidah

Nasiruddin Patwari, the chief coordinator of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), was targeted in a violent assault in Jhenaidah today, Friday. The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 pm in front of the Jhenaidah Municipal Collectorate Jame Mosque, situated directly opposite the Deputy Commissioner’s official residence.

According to reports, the NCP leadership had a pre-scheduled programme in the district. Following the conclusion of the Jummah prayers, as Nasiruddin Patwari and his associates were exiting the mosque, a group of individuals allegedly launched an unprovoked attack. In a social media statement posted at 3:10 pm, Patwari detailed that the assailants utilized eggs and bricks initially, before escalating to physical violence with hockey sticks.

The NCP chief coordinator further alleged that the attack took place in the presence of police personnel. He identified the attackers as activists belonging to the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Juba Dal, the student and youth wings of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Injuries and Property Loss

The assault resulted in significant physical injuries to several members of the NCP delegation. According to the victim’s statement:

  • Three individuals sustained serious head injuries.

  • Numerous other activists were wounded during the scuffle.

  • Nasiruddin Patwari and NCP joint member Tarek Reza were subjected to physical battery, including punches and blows.

In addition to physical harm, Patwari reported the theft of personal belongings. The attackers allegedly forcibly took mobile phones, professional cameras, and wallets from the delegation members.
