Primary School Student Killed in Tragic Titas Road Accident

A seven-year-old primary school student lost his life in a tragic road accident in Titas Upazila, Comilla, after being struck by a bakery delivery van. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 1:30 pm on Wednesday (22 July) on the road directly in front of the Ulukandi Government Primary School playground.

The deceased child has been identified as Md Alif Hossain, a first-grade pupil at Ulukandi Government Primary School and the youngest son of Md Delwar Hossain, hailing from the Ulukandi East neighbourhood.

According to school authorities and local residents, the incident transpired shortly after classes had ended for the day. Alif’s father had arrived near the school campus to collect his son and was waiting at a nearby shop. Spotting his father across the road, the young boy suddenly dashed onto the street to reach him. An oncoming delivery van belonging to a local bakery struck the child mid-crossing, sending him tumbling onto the tarmac and causing severe head trauma accompanied by heavy bleeding.

Witnesses and family members rushed to the scene and immediately transported the critically injured child to the Titas Upazila Health Complex for emergency medical treatment. Given the gravity of his head injuries, attending doctors advised transferring him to a specialised hospital in Dhaka for advanced care. However, young Alif succumbed to his injuries whilst en route to the capital.

The Headmaster of Ulukandi Government Primary School, Md Kamal Hossain, confirmed the tragic accident, expressing deep sorrow over the sudden loss of a promising young student.

The unexpected demise of the young boy has cast a profound shadow of grief and mourning over his family, classmates, and the entire Ulukandi community, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding traffic safety around rural school zones.
