PSC Suspends Recruitment Examinations Scheduled for 31 July

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) Secretariat has officially postponed the written recruitment examinations for eight distinct categories of revenue-funded positions originally scheduled for Friday, 31 July. The decision to halt the selection process was formally announced on Wednesday through an official notification issued by the Commission’s secretariat.

According to the statement, signed by Deputy Secretary (Administration) Md. Washimul Bari, the postponement applies to a range of non-cadre revenue budget positions spanning the 13th to 16th grades. The affected roles include Computer Operator, Training Assistant, Steno-Typist cum Computer Operator, Accounts Assistant, Computer Typist, Data Entry Operator, Receptionist, and Telephone Operator. Candidates across the country had been preparing for the competitive written test, which serves as a crucial preliminary hurdle for securing employment within the republic’s civil service apparatus.

While the Commission cited “unavoidable circumstances” as the primary reason for the sudden disruption, it did not elaborate further on the specific administrative or logistical constraints that led to the decision. The BPSC operates as the primary constitutional body responsible for testing and selecting qualified candidates for civil service positions, managing vast applicant pools that often number in the tens of thousands for government administrative posts. Postponements of this scale typically require significant administrative coordination to reschedule, given the extensive setup needed for invigilation, venue security, and script processing.

Addressing the prospective applicants, the BPSC Secretariat assured candidates that updated schedules regarding the date and time of the postponed written tests will be announced in due course. The official notification highlighted that detailed information will be published on the Commission’s web portal (www.bpsc.gov.bd), while individual candidates will also receive updates via direct SMS notifications to their registered mobile numbers.

Applicants have been advised to keep a close watch on the official channels for further announcements and to avoid relying on unverified sources or rumours regarding revised exam dates. The Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting fair and transparent examinations as soon as logistics permit, ensuring that eligible candidates receive ample time to prepare once the new schedule is finalised.
