Riyad Mahrez Ends International Career

Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez has announced his retirement from international football after his country’s FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Switzerland in Vancouver. The result not only confirmed Algeria’s exit from the tournament but also marked the final international appearance of one of the nation’s most accomplished footballers.

Speaking to beIN Sports after the match, the 35-year-old winger confirmed that he had played his last game for the national team.

“This was my last match for the national team,” Mahrez said following the defeat.
