The Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to solidify its status as a global financial juggernaut, driving substantial commercial growth across all ten participating franchises. Widely regarded as the world’s third-largest sporting league by overall franchise valuation, the competition saw its collective brand value expand by 11.4 per cent over the past year.
In a landmark shift at the top of the financial rankings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) eclipsed long-standing powerhouses Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders to claim the title of the league’s most valuable franchise. RCB’s dramatic rise stems directly from their recent maiden title victory—a historic achievement that provided a monumental boost to their commercial appeal. Driven by immense global fanbase engagement and the enduring star power of key figures like Virat Kohli, RCB’s market valuation has surged to an unprecedented $269 million (approx. BDT 32.8 billion / INR 29.84 billion).

Mumbai Indians hold the second spot with a market value of $264 million (INR 25.24 billion), recording a healthy year-on-year brand growth of 9.1 per cent. Five times champions of the tournament, Mumbai’s commercial clout is underpinned by an elite domestic core featuring international icons such as Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Kolkata Knight Riders rank third with a valuation of INR 23.43 billion, posting an 8 per cent annual growth rate. The three-time champions benefit enormously from the mega-star status of principal owner Shah Rukh Khan and a loyal regional market in West Bengal, though a relative lack of marquee domestic megastars on the field prevented them from breaking into the top two.
Chennai Super Kings, historically accustomed to topping commercial charts, slipped to fourth position. Valued at $244 million (INR 23.34 billion), CSK’s brand growth slowed to 3.4 per cent over the last twelve months. Analysts attribute this deceleration to over-reliance on iconic veteran MS Dhoni as their sole major marketing figurehead, despite recent squad additions like Sanju Samson.
A notable valuation gap separates the top four franchises from the remainder of the field. Sunrisers Hyderabad sit fifth at INR 16.07 billion, followed closely by Rajasthan Royals in sixth at INR 15.40 billion, who have capitalized on rising young talents such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Punjab Kings hold seventh place at INR 15.11 billion, sustained largely by high-profile ownership visibility via co-owner Preity Zinta despite a lack of silverware.
Despite operating for only four seasons, Gujarat Titans have mounted a swift commercial rise under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, ranking eighth with a valuation of INR 15.02 billion. Delhi Capitals occupy ninth position at INR 1,492 crore ($180 million equivalent) featuring stars like KL Rahul and Axar Patel, whilst Sanjiv Goenka’s Lucknow Super Giants complete the table in tenth with a market valuation of INR 11.67 billion.
