This beloved Rabindra Sangeet has now been rendered by the acclaimed Saikat Das, bringing a fresh yet faithful interpretation to Tagore’s masterpiece. The musical arrangement for the song has been crafted by Suman Kalyan, highlighting the emotive depth of the lyrics: “Tui phele eshechhis kare, mon, mon re amar.”
The track is scheduled for release today, 19 February, on Suman Kalyan’s official YouTube channel. Speaking about the project, Saikat Das shared, “One day, Suman Kalyan told me, ‘Dada, you have done a lot of modern songs, but your voice carries the fragrance of Rabindra Sangeet.’ That inspired me to explore Tagore’s songs, and in the process, I fell in love with Rabindra Sangeet all over again.”
Suman Kalyan added, “Saikat Das has been singing since the 1970s. Many of his songs have inspired popular artists, yet he has never sought the limelight, preferring to remain in the background. He has performed several Tagore compositions, and I am confident this rendition will be warmly received by listeners.”
