Singer Baljit Singh Found Dead at Home

Popular Punjabi singer and lyricist Baljit Singh was found dead inside his home in Ludhiana, Punjab, with the circumstances surrounding his death raising several unanswered questions. The 35-year-old musician was discovered on Thursday, 3 September, at his residence in Sudharpatti Dhaliwal village after neighbours alerted police about a strong and persistent smell coming from the property.

Police officers who arrived at the house found Singh’s body lying on a bed. By the time he was discovered, the body had begun to decompose. Based on the condition of the remains, investigators initially estimated that he may have died four to five days before the discovery. The exact time of death, however, will have to be established through forensic and post-mortem examination.

Residents said they had noticed an increasingly unpleasant odour coming from the house for several days. As the smell became stronger, they became concerned and contacted the police. Officers subsequently entered the property with assistance from local residents and recovered the body.

Investigators also found what appeared to be dried blood stains near the body. The discovery has added another element to the case, although police have not established whether the blood was connected to Singh’s death. Its source, and whether it resulted from an injury before or after his death, will need to be determined through forensic examination.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the musician’s death. CCTV footage from the area surrounding the house is being examined to establish whether anyone visited the property in the days before Singh was found. Investigators are also looking for any unusual movement or activity that could help establish a timeline of events.

Singh’s sister has offered a possible medical explanation. According to her, the singer had previously suffered a heart attack. She believes he may have experienced another cardiac episode, fallen and sustained an injury, and possibly died following significant blood loss. At present, however, this remains a family member’s assumption rather than an established finding.

The investigation is therefore focused on determining whether Singh died from a natural medical emergency, an accidental injury or another cause. Police are expected to rely on the post-mortem examination, forensic evidence, CCTV footage and other available information before reaching any conclusion.

The discovery has shocked those who knew the singer, particularly because his death came to light only after neighbours noticed the smell from his home. Until the medical and forensic examinations are completed, the precise circumstances and cause of Baljit Singh’s death remain unclear.
