Spain Receive Yamal Fitness Boost

Spain have been handed a significant boost ahead of the FIFA World Cup final after head coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed that teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is fully fit and available for selection against defending champions Argentina.

Concerns had emerged over Yamal’s condition following Spain’s semi-final victory over France, where the young forward suffered a knock to his leg during a challenge with defender Lucas Digne in the 22nd minute, shortly before Spain were awarded a penalty. Despite appearing to be in discomfort, Yamal played the entire match and helped his side secure a place in the tournament’s showpiece event.

His absence from Spain’s initial training sessions before the final fuelled speculation that he could miss one of the biggest matches of his career. Those fears have now been dismissed by De la Fuente, who assured reporters that the precautionary measures were taken solely to aid the player’s recovery and avoid any unnecessary risk.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Spain manager explained that Yamal had experienced pain after the collision against France but had responded well to treatment.

“Lamine picked up a knock during the challenge with Lucas Digne and felt some discomfort afterwards,” De la Fuente said. “Even so, he completed the match. We decided to give him time to rest and work separately under the supervision of our physiotherapists because we did not want to take any risks. He is now completely fine, has no physical problems, and the medical staff have given us very positive reports.”

The coach added that Yamal had already returned to full team training. He trained with his teammates two days before the final and also participated in the squad’s latest session, with the final workout expected to complete Spain’s preparations before the decisive encounter.

Spain have also received encouraging news regarding right-back Pedro Porro. The defender was forced off in the 85th minute of the semi-final against France after suffering a muscle strain, raising doubts about his availability. Like Yamal, Porro initially trained separately as a precaution. However, De la Fuente confirmed that he has recovered and is also fit for the final.

The availability of both players provides a timely lift for the 2010 world champions as they prepare for one of the biggest fixtures in international football. Yamal has been one of Spain’s standout performers throughout the tournament, while Porro has played an important role in the team’s defensive organisation.

Spain will face reigning champions Argentina in the FIFA World Cup final at New York’s New Jersey Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 1:00 am Bangladesh time.
