A 17-year-old school student was fatally stabbed in Bogra following an altercation regarding a football match. The incident occurred on Thursday, 21 May, at approximately 12:00 pm in front of Nowkhila P.N. High School, located in the Sariakandi Upazila. The deceased has been identified as Abdullah Saim Mustakim, a ninth-grade science stream student at the institution. He was the son of the late Joynal Abedin, residing in Ghughumari village under the Chandanbaisha Union of the upazila.

According to accounts provided by local residents and school classmates, the altercation originated a few days prior to the incident. Mustakim had engaged in a verbal dispute concerning a football match with Shahadat Hossain, a tenth-grade student from Nizamuddin High School.
The unresolved dispute culminated on Thursday midday when Shahadat Hossain, accompanied by his father, Shaha Ali, intercepted Mustakim. Finding him alone in front of Nowkhila P.N. High School, the duo launched an assault on the victim. During the altercation, Shahadat stabbed Mustakim with a sharp weapon, leaving him critically injured on the spot.
Following the assault, local bystanders and classmates quickly intervened to rescue the severely wounded student. Mustakim was immediately transported to the Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Upon arrival, the duty physician conducted an examination and pronounced him dead.

Biman Kumar Saha, the Headmaster of Nowkhila P.N. High School, expressed profound grief over the loss of the student. He noted that because the fatal encounter occurred outside the school boundaries, the institutional authority only became aware of the matter after it had transpired. He firmly demanded that those responsible face appropriate legal justice.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sariakandi Police Station, A.F.M. Asaduzzaman, confirmed that police personnel have visited and inspected the crime scene. He stated that formal legal proceedings are currently underway. The body of the deceased student has been transferred to the hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, after which it will be handed over to the family. The police administration further noted that as of Thursday afternoon, an official case had not yet been registered, but the process of filing the formal lawsuit remains ongoing.
