Woman Killed Inside Bogura Home

A housewife was killed after unidentified assailants allegedly entered her home and slit her throat in Gabtali upazila of Bogura district late on Wednesday night.

The incident took place at around 12:15am in the Mominhata Southpara area of the upazila, according to police and family members.

The victim, Rita Rani Majumdar, 48, was the wife of local resident Bidhan Chandra Ray. The couple lived alone at their residence, as their son and daughter stay in Dhaka for educational purposes.

Speaking about the incident, Bidhan Chandra Ray said he and his wife had dinner together at approximately 10:00pm on Wednesday before retiring to separate rooms for the night, as was their usual routine.

He stated that at around 12:15am he woke up after hearing loud banging on the door of his room. At nearly the same moment, he heard unusual groaning sounds coming from his wife’s room and immediately rushed There.

According to his account, upon entering the room he found Rita Rani Majumdar lying on the floor in a bloodied condition with her throat slit. He further said that after shouting for help and running outside, he noticed that the main entrance door of the house was open.

Local residents and relatives informed police following the incident. Officers later arrived at the scene and recovered the body.

The killing has created concern among residents of the surrounding area. However, police have not yet disclosed any possible motive behind the attack.

Humayun Kabir, Assistant Superintendent of Police for the Gabtali Circle, said the victim’s body was found lying on the bedroom floor with severe injuries to the throat.

He added that police were working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing and to identify and arrest those involved. Investigators are examining evidence collected from the scene as part of the inquiry.

No arrests had been reported immediately after the incident.
