Wang Taozen travelled from Guangzhou, China, to Bangladesh following his love for Surma Akter. He hoped to marry her, but legal complications and embassy warnings prevented the wedding. Taozen is currently in Dhaka preparing to return to his home country.
The couple met about a month and a half ago on the online app ‘Wall Talk’. With both families’ consent, wedding preparations began, but local and court attempts to formalise the marriage failed due to legal issues. During this period, Taozen converted to Islam.
Family members have stated that Taozen plans to complete the legal process in China and return to Bangladesh to marry Surma. Despite the legal obstacles, their relationship remains strong.
