Two Brothers Killed in Horrific Truck-Auto Rickshaw Collision

Two teenage brothers were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw in Keraniganj, Dhaka.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday (12 May) at the Tegarhiya passenger shelter area on the service lane of the Dhaka–Mawa Highway.

The deceased have been identified as Nadeem (15) and Razon (14). They were sons of Idu Mia from the Pargandaria area of Shuvadda Union in South Keraniganj.

According to police and local sources, four friends were travelling in an auto-rickshaw towards Hasnabad for tea when it collided head-on with a sand-laden truck near the Tegarhiya area. The impact resulted in the immediate deaths of Nadeem and Razon. Two other passengers in the auto-rickshaw sustained injuries.

Following the accident, local residents rescued the injured and transported them to a nearby hospital. Personnel from the Hasara Highway Police later arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies of the deceased, and sent them to the morgue of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

The Officer-in-Charge of Hasara Highway Police Station, Abdullah Al Mamun, confirmed that the truck involved in the collision has been seized. However, the driver and his assistant fled the scene after the incident. Legal proceedings in connection with the accident are underway.
