US Sanctions on Iran Constitute War on All Nations

Tehran has launched a scathing critique of Washington’s latest economic penalties, labelling the measures not merely an unlawful economic assault against a single nation, but a broader declaration of war against the international community. The remarks were highlighted by the Qatar-based news network Al Jazeera, which cited reports originating from the official Iranian news agency Fars.
Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, voiced intense opposition to the freshly minted financial restrictions imposed by the United States. According to Baghaei, these measures represent a blatant attempt by Washington to coerce independent, sovereign nations and United Nations member states into submission by unilaterally enforcing its domestic legislation and authority globally.
Elaborating on the legal and territorial implications, Baghaei stressed that no external government possesses the legitimate jurisdiction to compel foreign commercial banks, independent business entities, or international airports to sever lawful trade ties with third countries. Such institutions operate strictly under the domestic legal frameworks and sovereign jurisdiction of their respective home nations, rendering extraterritorial pressure an infringement on national autonomy.
Furthermore, the Iranian diplomat dismissed the enforcement of secondary sanctions as entirely devoid of any grounded basis under international law. He argued that these punitive steps directly breach the core tenets enshrined in Article 2, Paragraph 1 of the United Nations Charter, which explicitly guarantees the sovereign equality of all member states.
Characterising economic coercion as a form of international criminality and unlawful conduct, Baghaei issued a stern warning regarding escalating geopolitical tactics. He cautioned that if economic blockades or naval restrictions are permitted to accompany these financial measures, the sovereignty of independent nations will be entirely compromised, leaving global governance at the mercy of a single dominant power.
Concluding his remarks, Baghaei warned that yielding to such coercive pressures would systematically erode national sovereignty worldwide, potentially plunging the global order back into an era of overt and unrestricted colonialism.
