Man Killed in Bogura’s Gabtali over Stolen Chicken Dispute

In Bogura’s Gabtali, a clash over stolen chickens left Tarikul Islam Bhutto, 45, dead, while an 18-year-old named Swadhin from the opposing side was seriously injured.

The incident occurred around 6:30 pm on Sunday in Kituniya village of Durgahata Union. Gabtali police station OC Serajul Haque confirmed that the main attacker, Swadhin, has been arrested.

According to police and local residents, the deceased Tarikul Islam Bhutto was the son of Anwar Hossain Saju from the same area. Bhutto had earlier disputes over land with a neighbouring family. Recently, members of the opposing side stole broiler chickens from his poultry farm, which escalated tensions between the two parties.

The conflict began with an argument and escalated into a physical fight around 6:30 pm. Bhutto was beaten to death at the scene. Swadhin, the son of Abu Saeed, was seriously injured and admitted to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

By 9:30 pm, OC Serajul Haque stated that Swadhin was arrested for his involvement in the killing. Preparations were underway to recover Bhutto’s body and bring it to the police station. Tension remains high in the village.
