Islamic Bank Bangladesh PLC has reached a remarkable milestone, with deposits at its branch network now nearing BDT 12,000 crore, marking a substantial increase of BDT 3,700 crore within just one year. The bank’s total deposits currently stand at BDT 1,83,000 crore, reflecting its sustained growth and robust public trust.
Bank sources highlight that the institution has maintained its position as a leading conduit for remittances from expatriate Bangladeshis for the past 18 years. In 2025 alone, Islamic Bank handled remittances amounting to approximately BDT 76,000 crore, underscoring the confidence of overseas workers in the bank’s services. Furthermore, the bank’s customer base now exceeds 3 million, having grown by more than 500,000 over the past year.

These details were shared during the Sub-Branch Business Development Conference, held on Saturday, 17 January, at the InterContinental Hotel in Dhaka. The event was graced by Managing Director Md. Omar Faruk Khan as the chief guest. Additional Managing Director Engineer Mohammad Jamal Uddin Majumder presided over the proceedings, while Additional Managing Directors Md. Altaf Hossain and Dr. M Kamal Uddin Josim delivered special addresses. The welcome speech was presented by Deputy Managing Director Md. Mahbub Alam, alongside other senior officials from the bank’s headquarters.
Addressing the audience, Managing Director Md. Omar Faruk Khan stated, “Islamic Bank’s contribution to the nation’s economic development is significant. Despite the challenges faced in 2025, the bank played an unparalleled role in mobilising deposits and remittances, setting a benchmark in Bangladesh’s banking sector.”
He added, “Our vision is to establish Islamic Bank as a strong, Shari’ah-compliant, technology-driven, and compliance-focused modern bank. Our motto, ‘Innovation and Digitisation Driving Transformation’, underscores our commitment to leveraging technology across all services to benefit our customers.”
The conference saw participation from senior executives from the bank’s headquarters and in-charges of all 271 sub-branches, reaffirming Islamic Bank’s determination to expand customer services and strengthen its nationwide network.
