18 Bangladeshis Among 201 Migrants Returned Malaysia

The Pekan Nenas Immigration Detention Depot in Johor, Malaysia, has repatriated a total of 201 foreign nationals, including 18 Bangladeshi citizens, as part of an intensified deportation drive at the start of the new year. The operation, carried out on Monday, 12 January, reflects Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring national security.

According to the Johor State Immigration Department, the repatriated individuals comprised 160 Indonesians, 18 Bangladeshis, 13 Pakistanis, 4 Cambodians, and 3 citizens each from India and Singapore. All deportees were transported using Kuala Lumpur International Airport terminals (KLIA-1 and KLIA-2) and the Stulang Laut ferry terminal.

Following repatriation, all detainees have been officially blacklisted in the Malaysian Immigration Department system, preventing any re-entry into the country for a specified period. This measure is part of the government’s broader efforts to curb illegal residency and reduce congestion in detention facilities.

The Pekan Nenas facility lists repatriation as one of its core functions. Regular operations are conducted to ensure that foreign nationals who have completed their sentences or violated immigration laws are promptly returned to their home countries. The department emphasises that all repatriation procedures are conducted directly through official service counters within the depot, with no additional service charges, and discourages the use of intermediaries.

Citizens or organisations seeking information regarding repatriation processes can contact the Pekan Nenas Immigration Detention Depot’s Records and Transfer Unit at 07-6993540 or access the online SPO (Special Procedure Online) system for inquiries.

The Johor State Immigration Department confirmed that repatriation and other enforcement measures will continue in line with Malaysia’s immigration regulations. The department stated that such measures are essential to uphold national security and ensure the orderly management of foreign nationals in Malaysia.
