Dhaka, Bangladesh – The year 2025 has proven to be a year of both significant achievements and challenges for the Bangladeshi music industry. While certain tracks across audio, film, and television music have achieved great success, the industry as a whole has struggled with the absence of major audio releases from top production houses. Once again, it was film songs that garnered the most attention, while live concert performances faced considerable setbacks.
Despite these challenges, several songs from Coke Studio Bangla and television dramas made waves, earning widespread praise. However, the year has been marred by the cancellation and postponement of numerous concerts due to security issues, leaving fans and musicians alike disappointed.

Top Songs of 2025
The year kicked off with one of the most highly anticipated releases in recent memory: a revamped version of the classic “Dama Dama Mast Qalandar” by legendary singer Runa Laila. Featured on Coke Studio Bangla, the song attracted massive attention even before its official release, and once it debuted, it quickly became one of the most talked-about tracks of the year. With its high-energy beats and nostalgic charm, it captured the hearts of listeners across the country.
Hot on its heels was “Mahajadu”, a fusion folk track sung by Habib Wahid, alongside Tajikistani artist Mehrnigar Rustam. Written by Baul Shah Khwaja Miya and arranged by Habib himself, the song blended traditional Bengali folk with modern elements, resulting in one of the standout hits of 2025.
Another major success from Coke Studio was “Long Distance Love”, a romantic ballad sung by emerging talents Ankan Kumar and Sheik Mumtazina Mehjabin Afrin (also known as Modernotaku). The song, composed by Shubhendu Das Shubh, maintained a strong presence in listeners’ playlists throughout the year.
Among the most successful tracks of 2025 was “Gulbahar”, written and composed by Ishan Majumder. Sung by Ishan and Shubhendu Das Shubh, the song released in May and quickly amassed over 30 million views on YouTube, making it one of the biggest hits of the year.

Concerts: A Year of Setbacks
While the year saw a surge in successful songs, it was a difficult year for live music performances. Several high-profile concerts were either cancelled or postponed, largely due to security concerns in various parts of the country. Notably, concerts by Pakistani singer Atif Aslam and Bangladeshi rock legend James were delayed in Dhaka. In addition, many other concerts planned for later in the year were cancelled or rescheduled, creating a significant financial setback for both musicians and event organisers.
International performances by Bangladeshi artists also faced cancellations, further dampening the spirits of fans and artists alike. With the festival season approaching, the ongoing security challenges have left many wondering about the future of live music in the country.
