46,200 Students to Receive Junior Scholarships

The results of this year’s Junior Scholarship Examination are expected to be announced later this week, marking a significant milestone for Bangladesh’s secondary education sector. A total of 46,200 students will receive scholarships, including 14,700 merit-based (talent pool) awards and 31,500 general scholarships.

Kamrun Nahar, Assistant Director of the Planning and Development Wing at the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, has indicated that the results are likely to be published on 25 February.

Examination Overview

The Junior Scholarship Examination was conducted from 28 December to 5 January, covering students who completed the eighth grade in 2025. This year, a total of 315,160 students sat for the examination. The evaluation and processing of results are being handled by the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

Professor S.M. Kamal Uddin Haidar, Controller of Examinations at the Dhaka Board, confirmed that the final list of scholarship recipients will be published officially after obtaining government approval through a gazette notification.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Merit-based (Talent Pool) Scholarships: Annual lump sum of BDT 560 plus BDT 450 per month

  • General Scholarships: Annual lump sum of BDT 350 plus BDT 300 per month

These financial benefits will continue to support students over the next two academic years, providing both incentive and assistance for continuing their education.

Examination Structure

This year’s exams assessed students in Bangla, English, Mathematics, Science, and Bangladesh & Global Studies. The total marks were 400, distributed as follows:

  • Bangla: 100

  • English: 100

  • Mathematics: 100

  • Science & Bangladesh & Global Studies: 50

Each paper was three hours long, designed to rigorously evaluate students’ knowledge and suitability for scholarship awards.

The announcement of the results is anticipated to be a significant moment for the nation’s young learners, recognising academic excellence and supporting broader educational attainment across the country.
